This metric tracks the turnover rate in the company’s workforce in the last calendar year.

Expanded Definition

The GRI defines employee turnover as “employees who leave the organization voluntarily or due to dismissal, retirement, or death in service.”

Employees are defined by local rules and regulations.

The attrition rate, or turnover rate, calculates the number of full-time employees leaving the organization over the course of the last calendar year divided by average number of full-time employees in the previous year, multiplied by 100.

Additional commentary may include management’s actions to attract and retain workers and how changes in the ability to attract and retain workers affects the company’s performance and strategy.
Data can be sourced by the entity’s own HR systems.
